Don’t be deterred by the name, this is no cod-Oirish boozer, although an evening spent here will inevitably involve a pint of the well-kept Black Stuff. Part corner pub, part muso den, done out as a rented Dublin flatshare, Filthy MacNasty’s entertainment mix of spoken word, live indie & folk music – The Libertines, Alabama 3 & the occasional ex-Sex Pistol have all played here – attracts Guardian-reading Islingtonians & toothless hellraisers alike, drawn to its mix of easy bonhomie & a fine range of whiskies, many limited to one-off bottles that ‘don’t hang around forever’.
