Larger-than-life landlady/chef Roxy Beaujolais chooses Bitburger & Adnams Suffolk ales as the mainstay of her beer offer. It’s reckoned Shakespeare was once a customer at the flame-haired hostess’s half-timbered charge, a rare Fire of London survivor, now a welcoming bolt-hole with a great reputation. Home-cooked bistro dishes might include mushroom & chicken stew & salad nicoise. Don’t try to book, as Roxy prefers you to turn up & take pot luck. Cabinets of curiosity contain a motley array of junk & the whole fabulous shebang is presided over by Tom Payne, the owner’s cat.
