Square Meal review of The Lord Clyde:

Only old Irish codgers will remember Kendricks, the former occupant of this traditional boozer, with any fondness. Now stripped back to its wood-panelled former glory, complete with original Charrington’s signage, it offers Amstel & Staropramen on tap, Grolsch in retro flip-top bottles & a superior Bloody Mary that uses home-roasted marinaded tomatoes. Wines start at £12, with spicy New World winter warmer reds to be had for less than £20. Classic English bar snacks such as pork pie & piccalilli & a menu that includes dishes such as toad-in-the-hole, fish & chips, Sunday roasts with creamy mash & root veg, & nursery-style crumbles make striking out towards the far end of the rapidly improving Essex Road now even more rewarding.
