The Golden Heart

Diamond geezers meet the darlings of the Spitalfields art scene at The Golden Heart, a snugly attractive wood-panelled pub that acquired legendary status as the area slowly transformed from East End backwater to hipster hotspot. Its cult following is due in large part to the efforts of long-standing landlady Sandra Esquilant, who has presided over the boozer these past 30 years. On a recent visit, grizzled locals had made the interior their own patch, while young & fashionable folk crowded on to the pavement outside. Drinks include draught Guinness, Kronenbourg & Carlsberg Extra Cold as well as bottled Corona, Grolsch & Estrella Damm. The jukebox playlist is as wide-ranging as the clientele.
