The Old Blue Last

This dingy, peeling Victorian corner pub, now operated by the crew from Vice magazine, is decked out in tat from Steptoe & Son’s yard. A heaving mass of grungy geeks, club kids & arty young turks out on the lash drink Guinness, vodka & Red Bull, stain-your-teeth-red wine & cheap Staropramen served by staff who somehow manage to smile under pressure. The decibel level could compete with Heathrow’s main runway & the lighting will suit moles. Music is key, whether it’s the latest Yeah Yeah Yeahs track or live gigs from unsigned acts (Arctic Monkeys have played here). Further attractions include a ‘Disco’ upstairs on Saturdays.
