The oak-burning smoke pits at Bodean’s are dedicated to delivering ‘down home specials’ & all-important slow-smoked BBQ ribs with the power to reduce homesick yanks to tears of joy. Live sports from across the pond, a pumping soundtrack & frosty mugs of beer only add to the excitement of a visit to this transatlantic diner. Bodean’s is a ‘great high-energy place to start your evening & line your stomach’, though even its long-time fans fear it’s not quite what it was (ingredients can be ‘disappointing’, for instance). Even so, the much-expanded menu of culinary Americana is still darned hard to resist: wondrous helpings of ‘superb’ pulled pork, baby back ribs, BBQ chicken, sides of creamed corn & chilli cheese fries, plus deli sandwiches, steaks & burritos are pure road-trip heaven.
