A testament to the power of social media, Aussie-run Lantana took the capital by storm following its launch, not least because it became a darling of the food bloggers. It remains hugely popular, but despite expansion into the premises next door, staff still struggle to cope with demand – hence gripes about slow service & a lack of seating. The much-lauded food is made from high-quality ingredients, sourced locally, seasonally & ethically where possible: expect generous breakfasts (from sourdough toast & muesli to eggs & chorizo sausages), outstanding coffee & wholesome lunches of veggie wraps, corn fritters, exotic salads & savoury tarts. Lantana is licensed too, so you can enjoy it all over a glass of Prosecco or Pinot Noir.

And don’t even get me started on the coffee. If comparing the top 10 talked about establishments on Urbanspoon London, versus Urbanspoon Perth Australia for example, 7 out of 10 from Perth are all breakfast places whilst London is mostly 100% for dinner. This little experiment therefore suggests that Australians put more emphasis on their morning outings. And why wouldn’t they when such a vast selection of breakfast/brunch plates can be enjoyed while gazing at the Indian Ocean...
