This late-night Suzie Wong-style lair adjoining the Tamarai restaurant (see review) grooves to hip-hop & funk as crowds shimmy with their friends & regulars get all shook up on some cracking mixology. Like the food, inspiration for its on-the-money alcoholic creations comes from the old silk routes to Shanghai & beyond. ‘Oriental sunset’ is a Midori mule fortified with Japanese green tea-infused Havana añejo blanco rum, while ‘quiet storm’ lassi – exotic sweet fruits, coconut cream & Greek yoghurt laced with vodka – is no milkshake for minors. Enlightenment can also be found in everything from fine fig martinis, Asian beers & knowledgably chosen wines to abstemious pear, pomegranate & cinnamon mocktail. An in-house DJ & ‘video jockey’ work their magic with multiple LCD screens beaming out specially synchronised images for the serious party crowd.
