It may not dazzle like some diamond drinking dens in the vicinity, but that’s not to say Jewel is a cheap imitation. Sparkly divas & rhinestone cowboys gather in four clearly defined spaces tricked out in rich dark tones, gilt & twinkling lustres. The inspiration appears to be Napoleonic châteaux & Edwardian brothels – a suitably decadent ambience for the taking of cava, Prosecco, Pommery or Champagne cocktails at around £8. Getting stoned on diamond martini or ruby rouge (Absolut Kurant vodka, strawberry liqueur, cranberry juice & rose petals) is a distinct possibility, so best intersperse these with a sobering ginger mocktail or non-alcoholic pineapple brew – especially if you’re taking advantage of generous happy hours. Hip designer/DJ Henry Holland has recently been spotted at the decks, so expect shiny happy people in the house for Saturday’s Boutique late-nighter. ‘Global grazing’ sums up the nibbles.
