‘A nice cup of tea & a sit down’ is the simple philosophy behind this cheerful Shad Thames teahouse, where the welcoming atmosphere is conducive to nursing a brew over the papers or catching up with friends. There are 19 loose-leaf teas to choose from, & each pot comes with its own information card advising drinkers how long to infuse the leaves for; a large stopwatch on one wall works as a handy timer. Friendly staff are also happy to make suggestions; a light spring Darjeeling with a blueberry muffin to brighten up an overcast afternoon, perhaps. Teapod also serves breakfast & simple lunches: pancakes & toasted bagels for the former; hot soups & baked potatoes for the latter. Afternoon tea is, of course, a given.
