This branch of Sagar has stayed with what it knows best – serving easy-priced Indian vegetarian food in less-than-inspiring, no-frills surroundings, with the minimum of fuss or flashy gestures – although some reckon it’s no match for its better-known Hammersmith sibling. The interior may resemble ‘an abandoned sauna’, but there are some decent regional dishes to be had here including idli (rice dumplings), dosas, uthappams (lentil ‘pizzas’ with spicy toppings) & a full quota of standard veggie curries involving aubergines, okra, cauliflower & so on. For best value, go for the mini lunchtime thali (£4.50) or pick up one of the unbeatable takeaway lunch boxes (two veggie curries, raita, rice, a paratha & a tiny salad for just £2.95).
