Square Meal Review of The Mirror Bar at the Landmark ?

Where do you look in a room full of mirrors? At the cocktail list, if you happen to find yourself in the Landmark London’s style-conscious drinks lounge. This aptly named bar is a lofty, grown-up space with a fondness for fresh flowers, glass cabinets & giant cushioned sofas, ideal if you fancy dipping into the extensive list of premium whiskies & Cognacs or want to sip on a Champagne cocktail – the classic version (with Angostura 1919 rum, bitters & honey, topped up with Taittinger Brut) feels just right, although prices are not for the faint-hearted. To go with their chosen libations, drinkers can order plates of shared canapés, cheese or sashimi – although canny regulars watch & wait for complimentary snacks to circulate in the hands of well-drilled, attentive staff.

We popped in here on a Saturday early evening – we had just wanted somewhere to lounge/chat but the main Landmark area only allowed people to sit if they were going to have the Afternoon Tea. We wandered through the stunning hotel and discovered this bar – service was excellent given that we were obviously two slightly less wealthy women than those who frequented the bar. Cocktails were pricey, ie approx £8 for non alc but lots of freebie nibbles (sushi/unlimited pretzels etc) and lovely friendly bar staff who made us feel really welcome and happy to tip. We ended up staying till late and it certainly wasnt packed, just a really relaxing luxury bar to lounge in. Perfect for those just wanting to catch up, not have a huge meal and dont want to go too central.
