While the cocktails at this easy-to-miss bar are tasty & good-value, one can’t help feeling short-changed by the decor & atmosphere. The room itself is a one-dimensional black-&-red affair with cheap furnishings, acres of Perspex, & a strange ‘egg-box’ ceiling that might remind you of DIY soundproofing; the music is also played so low that it wouldn’t be out of place in a suburban lounge. The bar offers an extensive selection of Japanese snacks & platters, plus delicious cocktails such as the finely balanced sweet-sour strawberry caipiroska. Staff are nice, but a little too eager; they need to learn that studied cool is required in this chi-chi part of town. However, the skimpily dressed young things in the bar – mostly Knightsbridge misfits & tourists – seem charmed.
