The luxuriant roof gardens lend ‘instant glamour’ to post-work drinks at Coq d’Argent’s bar/brasserie, where sharp-looking City suits unwind on the terrace or congregate ‘cheek by jowl’ at the bar. In fine weather, the alfresco grill churns out steaks, tuna & spatchcocked chickens, but there’s also a full lunch menu with a few items filched from the restaurant’s carte: start with a French charcuterie plate before moving on to onglet with caramelised shallots & frites. In the evening, nibbles & light dishes take over as the mood drifts towards drinking. Champagne aside, there’s a decent selection of wine by the glass, plus single malts aplenty & a lengthy cocktail list with some inventive numbers including the ginger frost martini made with Babicka vodka, fresh ginger, Canton liqueur & lemon. Expect queues for the lift at peak times.
