For years, Kensington’s expat Iranian community has depended on Mohsen for proper Persian kebabs & other authentic delicacies. There isn’t much decor to speak of, but the kitchen dishes up a modest menu of fresh breads, grilled lamb & colourful salads alongside some very basic sides (an egg, anyone?). A bright conservatory area at the back is a nice place to sit & sip some fresh mint tea or sample the ever-popular chelo kebab (minced baby lamb), which is as ubiquitous as ‘meat & potatoes in England’, according to the owners. It’s always busy, but the atmosphere peaks on Sundays when the crowds descend & service is ‘in full swing’. Mohsen may not be the top Iranian in town (‘consistency’ is an issue for some readers), but it still hits the mark.
