Mohsen

Standing on a busy stretch of Warwick Road, Mohsen doesn’t look very exciting, but this congenial Iranian restaurant is a much brighter affair on the other side of the door. The plain interior is brightened up with tapestry cushions, 3D pictures & prints of the homeland. As friendly staff nip around in jeans & T-shirts, the aroma of bread baking in the oven hints at what’s to come. The cooking resounds with fresh, vibrant flavours – witness tarragon & mint paired with feta in a zingy sabzi, or boldly spiced kashk o bademjan (char-grilled aubergine with walnuts & mint). Lamb is the best main course choice, whether you go for chelo kebab (Iran’s national dish) or one of the gutsy daily specials. Although it’s a BYO venue, Mohsen isn’t really a place to linger, but there’s a pub just a few doors down if you want to extend the evening.
