If Lucky Seven is Tom Conran’s answer to an American diner, his Deli is a nod to its British equivalent, the 50s’ seaside caff. The Formica-topped booth tables are adorned with bottles of Heinz ketchup & HP Sauce, the perfect accompaniment to a full English or a toastie loaded with melted cheese. The menu veers across the Atlantic, taking in eggs Benedict & utterly sinful Philly steak sandwiches, before returning to the UK for afternoon tea & cake – if the sun is out, enjoy it all in the shady courtyard garden. Although there’s a small deli of sorts in the basement, curious shoppers are more likely to be attracted by the old-fashioned English sweetshop display in the windows. Grab a bag of gobstoppers or a sherbet fountain on the way out.
