For a business that prides itself on being London’s only Austrian deli, adding interlopers such as gazpacho, croissants & Cornish ice cream to the menu (even if it is just for summer) could be risky. But the tiny café’s band of followers can rest assured that pretty much everything else served up by the friendly staff is of good Austrian stock. The sausages are a knockout. Choose from Wiener, spicy Debreziner or cheesy kasekrainer served with salads & rye, followed by a slice of Sachertorte. Sandwiches are an easy alternative at lunchtime, & non-alcoholic lubrication comes courtesy of a herbal lemonade called Almdudler. The ingredients that go to make your lunch are all available to take home, with a huge range of charcuterie, pickles & rye breads for sale in the deli. Drinkers should look out for the fashionable Grüner Veltliner wines.
