The Establishment

Part cocktail & wine bar, part neighbourhood diner, this new Parson’s Green project from the team behind Clapham hangouts Iniquity & The People’s Republic combines a slick retro interior with a cracking drinks list & uncomplicated British cooking. During the week, the menu majors on gastropub classics such as pork belly & mash, while at weekends there are posh brunches or a choice of roasts: perfectly pink slabs of sirloin teamed with a generous Yorkshire pud & lashings of gravy, say. For afters, lighter alternatives to the nursery food & English cheeses include terrific poached pears with a heady chocolate cream. The global wine list is mostly available by the glass or carafe, including high-end options from the monthly-changing Enomatic, while classic cocktails at the bar are supplemented by mead & gins, in keeping with the Brit theme. Factor in friendly, breezy staff & here’s somewhere that should become an establishment in no time.
