With its high arched windows, chic Italian furniture & textile art, Bianco Nero is a well-priced draw for Hammersmith’s young professionals. While the interior decor is starkly monochrome, the place has a relaxed ambience, with service nicely laid-back. A smoked mozzarella starter with a colourful side of thyme-marinated courgette positively oozed good provenance, as did the beef carpaccio, served with mustard dressing & refreshing tomato compote. The well-chosen homemade pasta selection includes linguine alle vongole, rabbit & rosemary pappardelle, & a delicious butternut squash & goats’ cheese ravioli. Mains of poached sea bream stuffed with artichokes, suckling pig & roast monkfish with braised lentils & pancetta emphasise authentic Italian heritage, while to finish, a white chocolate cheesecake found an ideal counterpart in a South African dessert wine from the Italian-slanted wine list.

Great find close to the Apollo. We had a nice glass of prosecco in the really cosy bar downstairs while waiting to meet up with friends before going to the concert. Then a delicious meal in the restaurant. I had homemade ravioli which was fantastic and my friend the saddle of lamb. Everyones food was very good and reasonably priced all mains less than £15. The white chocolate cheesecake was best ever.

We ate here on Friday 7 Nov before seeing a show. We thought our show was at 8pm so booked for 6:30pm thinking we had plenty of time. After we ordered we checked the tickets which said the show started at 7:30pm so we were in a bit of a rush! When our entree's arrived (nice simple bruschetta – too many restaurants over complicate this with strange additions – and beautifully done grilled vegetables and goat cheese antipasto) we mentioned our predicament and asked that the kitchen start on our mains straight away. This was no problem and straight after we finished entrees we had our mains coming out which meant we finished the meal in time to get to our show.

The mains were also nicely done (lamb and lovely creamy mash and spinach and an interesting dish of sauteed veal and vegetables which was similar to a strir fry). The decor is quite chic in striking black and white (hence the restaurant name) with some interesting art and the tables are nicely spaced so it is not as cramped as many restaurants. The food was nicely done with high quality ingredients and well priced and the service was punctual and very accommodating.

Whilst incredibly rushed (entirely our fault and the staff responded well to our compressed timeframe!) we had a lovely meal and would definitely return for a more relaxed meal next time! My only gripe is the distinct lack of wines available by the glass (2 whites and 2 reds) or half bottle (none) for those who don't feel like an entire bottle between them.
