Harrison’s has everything going for it. It’s a great looking place with a huge zinc bar dominating one side of the room, & an open kitchen on the other. There’s a vast amount of professional know-how behind the establishment & it shows. Staff are keen & enthusiastic, mixing ‘great cocktails’, & there’s a ‘consistently good’ atmosphere. The menu has been shortened, but still offers generous steaks & burgers plus an eclectic mix of restaurant & bar food: from generous sharing platters of pâtés & salads to nicely cooked & presented pork belly with scallops. Dud dishes aren’t unknown, however, & it might be worth avoiding off-the-wall concoctions such as prawn burger. Lovely cocktails (don’t miss the apricot margaritas & virgin mojitos) & an interesting wine list add to the pleasure.
