Many faces – not just the Duke’s – loom from the walls of this comfortable pub, which some readers reckon is still ‘one of Marylebone’s best-kept secrets’. A relaxed vibe pervades both the downstairs bar area (which is prettily lit by night) & the intimate upstairs dining room, but the kitchen takes its work seriously. A separate steak & grill menu offers lobster, beef fillet & ‘cracking’ Ginger Pig rib-eye for the big spenders, while the daily carte might propose rabbit rillettes or burrata with heritage tomatoes to start, followed by roast tranche of halibut with brandade ravioli, olive & broad bean salsa. For afters, consider rhubarb cheesecake with orange-custard ice cream. Beer guzzlers are well served, & there’s also a generous choice of wine by the glass – check out the blackboard for details.
