Like a well-regarded family accountant, Number Twelve is eminently trustworthy but not desperately exciting: there’s no hiding the fact that this is a corporate hotel dining room. That said, it ticks plenty of business-friendly boxes: tables are well spaced, staff are efficient & unobtrusive, & it’s very handy for Euston station. The kitchen makes quite a splash, with an appealing, Italian-inspired menu that makes the most of our native produce. British beef is the starting point for wafer-thin carpaccio before it’s dressed with sautéed mushrooms, shaved parmesan & lemon oil, while home-reared pork loin comes roasted & served with crushed, mustard-spiked Jersey Royals & Calvados jus. Bills can mount quickly, but there are affordable options too – particularly if you opt for a bowl of pasta (spinach & ricotta ravioli, for example).
