Square Meal review of Paradise by way of Kensal Green: ? Write your own review

Named after GK Chesterton’s famous rhyming couplet, this flamboyant Victorian boozer is now awash with bohemian gothic flourishes, from ornate mirrors & miniature statues to chandeliers & birdcages. Move through the traditional saloon bar to reach the lofty château-style dining room, where weekly menus promise a mixed bag of sophisticated Anglo-European dishes. Open with ham hock & parsley terrine with Colman’s mustard dressing & pea shoots. Roast rump of Swaledale lamb has been praised, or you might prefer a main course of braised Old Sport pork cheeks with mash & sauce ‘osso bucco’. To finish, opt for something reassuring such as apple & blackberry crumble or raspberry & banana Eton mess. Thirty wines start at £14 & there are classic cocktails from around £6.50. DJs spin the decks upstairs at weekends & alfresco types can take advantage of the pretty garden & decked roof terrace.

I have recently moved to West London and had heard off friends that The Paradise was a place I had to go to. We booked a table on a Friday night with planes to move on somewhere else. My plans soon changed once I had spent 5 minutes there. The food was amazing quality and the service was relaxed but professional. I left at 2am after having an amazing time in ‘Music Room’ . Great cocktails , great music. Would strongly recommend you try this place. Would be missing out if you did not !!!

Rarely do I venture to West London but last Friday was one of those exceptions, and I was glad I made the effort! We grabbed a drink in the bar, which was buzzing with atmosphere, and we’re then shown to our table in the fabulously styled dining room. So far so good but what really blew me away was the quality of the food! I went for the interesting combo of oxtail & macaroni to start and was not disappointed, the dish was beautifully presented and tasted excellent. I had the pheasant for a main, and was once again savouring every bite. The service was good, if not exceptional, and they have a great wine list, which the waiters actually know a lot about which always helps! After our dinner had settled we went upstairs and we’re greeted by a heaving dancefloor and a great looking crowd. Whilst dancing after dinner is not really my bag my female companions certainly obliged, and its great that this place incorporates everything into one great experience. Really would recommend this place to anyone, and if I lived a little closer I think I would be a regular!

When I first heard that one of my best girl friends was having her birthday dinner at Paradise by way of Kensal Green, I went, Paradise wha??? Apparently she had discovered this beautiful place near Ladbroke Grove that had a great ambience and even better food. So there I was on a Monday night not entirely convinced this would be a fabulous night out, what with the place located very near to the Kensal Green cemetary. But was I wrong! Paradise could probably be my find of the year! We were sat in a pretty yet kinky dining room with some amazing music playing in the background. The food, I had the roast turbot – was amazing and had such a delicate and beautiful flavour. The recommended wines went smooth with the food and the sticky toffee pudding has been the best I've had in a long time. After we took a tour of the place (this is a massive building) and discovered some gorgeous function rooms for private parties. I have already booked one for mine! That's how much I love the place, and am sure will be coming back for more. What a charming find in West London!

Over the weekend some friends and I visited The Paradise. We booked the Private Dining Room to have a roast, I believe it's called “host your roast”. We had a beautifully cooked leg of lamb with all the trimmings, it was so nice to have a roast in a pub and not have to do anything but still have the privacy you would have at home by using the private room.

After lunch we sat out on the sunny roof terrace for a couple of glasses of wine, a great way to spend a lazy Sunday would reccommend!

Love this place
Had my birthday here and it was magical, my friends and myself were all so well looked after by the wonderful staff and my lunch was super tasty too. We were in the private room that leads out to the roof terrace where we could smoke and get ready for dessert. I recommend the Sicilian Merlot.
I will be back for sure!

I had lunch at Paradise a couple of days ago and was really surprised. Their set meals are £12.50 for two courses and with the 50% discount I had to only pay just a measly sum for my delicious iman bayaldi & crumble! My wife (and me) loved the ambience, it was perfect with loads of soft light streaming through the windows, a very pretty garden and added on was the great service. We loved every minute of it! Will definitely go back.
