Square Meal review of Masala Zone:
The new Covent Garden branch of the good-value Indian from the people behind Amaya, proves once again that chain restaurants can be innovative & appetising. The glass-fronted industrial space of painted brick walls & metal girders has been softened by pink & red hues, while the high ceilings are festooned with dozens of Indian puppets as a nod to the Theatreland location. The food is good: from fiery Goan curry full of firm, fleshy prawns to a fresh, crunchy & utterly wholesome daily special of green beans with coconut, & a super-sweet pudding of warm gulab jamun. A great option not only for bargain hunters but also for solo diners, kids, vegetarians & even diabetics, who get their own specially designed Ayurvedic menu.
