Square Meal review of Stanza:

Stanza has recently upped its game with a new head chef & menu. Modern British flavours remain at the heart of the food offering & the use of top-notch ingredients ensures that dishes shine. Plump scallops served with spicy sausage & roasted hazelnuts proved a fantastic combo to start, while a main course of superbly cooked cannon of lamb with devilled lambs’ kidneys & smooth carrot puree further indicated real talent in the kitchen. Dishes are hearty but desserts shouldn’t be overlooked, particularly the wicked chocolate & orange mousse. Spacious & elegant, the first-floor dining room benefits from large windows overlooking the street, & the Theatreland location makes it a good choice for pre- or post-performance bites. The only downside is the slightly flat atmosphere when the restaurant isn’t full, but the new menu, as well as warm service & reasonable prices should lure diners in & give Stanza the lively buzz it deserves.
