This branch of the upmarket Lebanese chain is a tale of two halves: a sleek, modern brasserie sits on the ground floor, while the sumptuous & decadent basement has moody lighting, mirrors & a deep purple & gold colour scheme. The menu is the same on both floors & delivers fresh, clean flavours. Familiar Lebanese dishes include hoummos, falafel, tabbouleh & stuffed vine leaves, but there’s also more adventurous stuff such as surprisingly light but spicy lamb kibbeh (raw minced lamb with bulgur wheat & spices). Elsewhere is deliciously creamy moutabal (smoked aubergine pepped up with lemon juice), wonderfully smoky moujadara (lentil puree) & more substantial mains such as cod served with a caramelised onion reduction & seasoned with cumin, cinnamon & sweet black pepper. Great Lebanese pastries bring meals to a happy end & there’s live music & belly dancing for after-dinner entertainment.
