A decked garden that is more Conran Shop than B&Q is not the least of The Lighthouse’s charms. The main bar and dining room has a seaside feel about it – calming greens and blues gel to pleasant effect with an easy-on-the-eye hodgepodge of seemingly random furnishings. Its snappy menu lets the ingredients do the talking. Moist caper-laced tuna carpaccio with rocket salad, battered coley and hand-cut chips, and red mullet pan-fried with fennel, asparagus and runner beans make ideal summer mains. Wines are priced from £12.50 to £40, with 10 offered by the glass, and Staropramen, Leffe, Amstel and Ansells bitter are available on draught. The Lighthouse is a welcoming beacon for anyone washing up on the grim reef that is Battersea Park Road.
