The Brasserie

A boon to gentrified Wandsworth Commoners, this brasserie has a lively bar area up front for casual drinking & snacking, & space behind, including a large, airy conservatory, for more formal dining. The beguiling menu offers something for every mood, from grilled lobster & fries to crispy duck & coriander salad, hamburgers to Caesar salad, coq au vin to tapas. But judging from the experience of a dry, dull Wiener schnitzel & an unsatisfying duck confit, the versatile kitchen doesn’t yet live up to its promise. Until it does, the stylish surroundings, decent wine list & most simple dishes are the reasons to visit.
