For a restaurant & bar named after an architect, Hawksmoor’s decor is unremarkable to the point of anonymity, but the buzz makes up for that, fuelled by excellent cocktails & huge steaks. And we do mean huge: 600g bone-in sirloin & rib eye or 500g rump steaks, sourced from The Ginger Pig in North Yorkshire & hung for 28 days. The cocktail list is a purist’s delight, shunning sticky sweet confections & offering instead classic juleps, Martinis, Manhattans, old fashioneds & sours. Beers include Anchor Steam & Sierra Nevada Pale Ale; the wine list isn’t so resolutely American & includes some noble French reds for those with bonuses to burn.
