Review of Addie's Thai Café: ? Write your own review

If you wandered into Addie’s by mistake, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d strolled into Earls Court’s funkiest nightclub. But look beyond the low-level lighting & contemporary furnishings & you’ll discover that this venue (named after its chef-owner, a veteran of Thailand’s five-star hotel scene) is an unpretentious neighbourhood hangout with good Thai food. Its som tam with grilled pork neck is ‘the stuff of legend’, but if you fancy something adventurous, try the raw prawn & chilli salad. Staff have been known to take on a surly tone, but by & large Addie’s is a reasonable choice for a decent feed in an area that qualifies as one of London’s harshest culinary deserts. In the basement is a moody cocktail bar.

Unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant with really authentic Thai food. The som tam with grilled pork neck is the stuff of legend (order some sticky rice to go with) and there are some really nice stir-fries and curries to go alongside. There's always a generous scattering of Thais in the room, which is reassuring, and I like that they serve Chang beer as well as the more ubiquitous Singha. Book ahead – it gets busy!
