Just a waddle from the ‘natural birth’ centre over the way, this branch of The Clifton must have provided many an expectant mum with that last-minute, labour-inducing curry. Its menu of ‘curry house’ classics & regional specialities finds favour with all sorts – from Docklands business diners to local families. Service & setting (dark wood, mirrors & wooden relief carvings) are smart enough to rise to most occasions, while cheap prices & cold Cobra on draught make it an ‘any day of the week’ sort of place too. It’s well worth veering away from the usual baltis & biryanis towards more typical regional dishes such as Sylheti gatta (made with runner beans), Pakistani achari lamb or Bangladeshi beef with shatkora lime.
