The Prince Regent

A revamp of this south London pub has turned a frog into a handsome prince – a Prince Regent, in fact. A tastefully redecorated interior appeals to well-heeled locals, as does the great selection of real ales, Belgian beers & wines from around the world. A brief menu takes in staples such as bangers & mash, flash-fried onglet & salmon fishcakes, while the daily specials might include homemade gravad lax, pasta with broad beans, chilli & prosciutto & steak tartare. Portions are invariably generous, & there’s the mandatory Sunday roast as well as a short list of appealing puds. The legendary cooked breakfasts are especially welcome after a brisk walk in Brockwell Park or a swim at the Lido.
