It’s both surprising & regrettable that Caribbean cuisine in south London is mostly the province of hole-in-the-wall caffs. One notable exception is Brockwells, a nightclub-like venue with room for hearty portions of jerk chicken, ackee & saltfish, curried goat & fish stew as well as the large, loud groups who put them away. The relaxed, party atmosphere is appreciated, but not always the laid-back Caribbean vibe: waiting staff seem to be badly affected with manana-itis, so this isn’t the place to go for prompt, efficient service.
