The artfully staged, slouchy late lounge at The Dorchester’s high-rolling Chinese restaurant feels like the set for some 1930s cinematic potboiler – perhaps Shanghai Express starring Anna May Wong & Marlene Dietrich (no stranger to the hotel herself). Today’s dickie-bowed clientele are more likely to be Honda dealers from Hull than opium dealers from Hanoi, but you get the picture.Try out a top-notch Singapore sling (£10) for size, or reacquaint yourself with Rob Roy, sidecar, stinger, white lady & brandy Alexander – classic names that were hits long before China Tang was a twinkle in owner Sir David Tang’s eye. Smoky malts such as Macallan 25 Year Old & Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve seem apposite, likewise an appetising selection of steaming plump dim sum, crispy rolls & noodle dishes from £5 a pop.
Travel to China Tang (bar) at The Dorchester Hotel in style with London's leading minicab firm Addison Lee.
