Sweetly quirky in comparison with the po-faced grunge of many trendy East London haunts, the Commercial Tavern is a tiny place with an extraordinary interior, its decor a riot of stencilling in ice cream colours, with an oversized lampshade collection, blue & yellow cuckoo clocks climbing the walls & framed mirrors on the ceiling. Pride of place behind the pool table goes to the family portrait of Den, Angie, Sharon & Rowley & there’s Grolsch, London Pride or Old Rosie on tap for anyone who wants anything as prosaic as a pint.
