There’s always a scramble for seats, & the bar can get pretty hectic with thirsty locals lining up to order from the extensive selection of lagers, Cask Marque ales & pretty decent wines. Foodwise, there’s plenty to keep most punters occupied between sips or sunbathing – even if it’s just a snack of smoked salmon with rye bread & beetroot crème fraîche. If something more filling is required, try lamb-shank shepherd’s pie or beef shin with mushrooms, red wine, horseradish & chive mash. The popular Sunday lunch usually includes 21-day-aged beef & some board games, while a regular pub quiz helps exercise brain cells during the week.
