‘The best kept secret in Primrose Hill’, La Collina resides on a low-key row of shops in a quiet residential street. It’s a bright two-floor operation with a ‘delightful garden’ at the back & a menu that mirrors the unfussy look. Unadulterated Italian dishes rely on sound technique & prime produce, rather than fancy flourishes. Antipasti could be the classic combo of buttery prosciutto draped over sweet figs, or baby squid stuffed with crab meat. Homemade pasta might be perked up with ’nduja (crumbly Calabrian sausage). For main courses, meat & fish arrive simply grilled & adorned with vegetables: tuna with cherry tomatoes & capers, or beef tagliata. You’ll find all the classics on the Italian wine list, but also less well-known varieties. The bill? Reasonably moderate, for these parts.
