The Grand Union Camden Road

You’ll have to make a detour off the busy tourist trail to reach the Grand Union, but Camden chic travels further than the main drag. Inside, the whole place looks deliberately thrown together, with flea-market ornaments, modish lampshades & mismatched furniture pitched against chintzy wallpaper lined with all manner of tacky-cool prints. A young, trendy & distinctly non-touristy crowd congregates in the two capacious lounges, sipping cocktails & chomping on generous tasty burgers with hand-cut chips & all the trimmings. Salads & sharing platters also do the job, & there are some decent, cheap & cheerful wines to wash it all down. On Fridays & Saturdays, the DJ party goes on until 3.30am.
