The restoration of this vast, mock-Tudor pub has brought grandeur in abundance to South Ealing, & its sprawling, wood-panelled bar now attracts youngish locals with a rock soundtrack, comfy snug & a notable line-up of draught beers. The Tavern also boasts an equally impressive dining room, where a hotchpotch of furniture is arranged beneath arching wooden beams in front of a sizeable open kitchen. On offer is a raft of Mediterranean-accented dishes running from toasted goats’ cheese with beetroot carpaccio & apple purée to sea bass with crab & herb gnocchi. Warm salads might also feature (confit duck with ratte potato, duck egg & pancetta, say), along with 28-day dry-aged Angus rib-eye, while puds tend to stay within British shores. Outside, there’s yet more space in the large covered garden.
