Ealing Park Tavern

Worth a visit for decent food, the Tavern is a likeable, unpretentious gastropub, with drinkers propping up the bar in two of the three rooms, the third being given over to a congenial dining room proper with de rigueur mismatched tables & chairs, a bustly atmosphere & the theatre of the open kitchen. The menu is distinctly seasonal, with starters on a warm summer’s evening including gazpacho & such evolved salads as char-grilled chilli squid salad & warm duck & orange salad. Mains are anchored by poached or grilled fish & meats. Portions feel generous, especially if you’ve dipped into the basket of soft warm bread at the beginning of the meal, but lacklustre puds aren’t worth saving space for. Other plus points are the ‘knowledgeable & friendly staff’, the big outside spill-over area & a well-priced wine list.
