Though a local Chinese & popular for takeaway, cooking makes this eatery as much a destination as a convenience for the customers who sit in their twos & fours in a tiny, plain, ground-floor dining area. Many of the Chinatown classics, such as crispy aromatic duck, beef in oyster sauce & sweet & sour pork are available, but it’s the Szechuan specialities that beg to be tried: baked aubergine casserole with Szechuan sauce, stewed chicken & chilli hotpot &, for the brave, pig’s trotters stewed Szechuan-style. Great set menus make a gentle introduction. There’s room for bigger parties in the basement.
