The Havelock Tavern

Among the rabbit warren of residential streets that run between Brook Green & Shepherd’s Bush, this is a gastropub worth taking a map to find. Friendly staff behind the bar are always ready with service, repartee, decent draught beers & wines by the glass for the drinkers, of which there are plenty. Enticing-looking loaves of freshly baked bread sitting casually at the end of the bar encourage many to eat, too. Menus change at every service, so check the blackboards for current dishes: tuna tataki, slow-roast pork belly, & Goan chicken & coconut curry are typical of the wide-ranging approach &, in true gastropub fashion, the division between first & main courses is fashionably obscure.
