The owners of this sweet Japanese restaurant seem to feel there’s no need to update their look, & their customers obviously agree (after one visit, many become regulars). So, perhaps it’s best to glory in the 1970s pine furniture, the doilies & the plates of plastic sushi & sashimi displayed in the window. Diners are greeted warmly & courteously, & sit either at the sushi bar tucked near the back, or at one of the front-room style dining tables, to be served some of the ‘best’, ‘most authentic’ Japanese cooking in town – at a fraction of West End prices. Aficionados go off-piste on the long, detailed menu, but most people stick to the array of great-value, carefully planned set meals, accompanying their choice with tea or saké.
