Square Meal Review of Wright Brothers ?

‘Too cramped, too busy, food fantastic’, muses one reader. This hugely popular oyster bar at the corner of Borough Market is brimming with bivalves from Cornwall & buzzing with punters from all around the globe. WB’s oysters can be enjoyed au naturel, cooked ‘Japanese style’ or deep-fried à la New Orleans. A specials menu also features connoisseur’s catches – roast pollock with samphire & rich oyster beurre blanc, say – while timeless dishes such as dressed crab or beef, Guinness & oyster pie also get a look in. The smart, mainly French wine list is complemented by staunchly British porter & stout, a reminder of the oyster’s rather more humble origins as tavern food. The best seats are out front – so come on a market day (Thurs-Sat) & be prepared to wait.

Oh my – went here last night and what a great treat it is!

I had the most delicious potted prawns, not something I would nomally have, as it can be way too buttery. It was utterly delicious and not overpowering, just the way you always wanted them, but never had.
Then dressed crab – which could have just been pulled out of the sea in Selsey for the freshness. 'He who doesn't really breathe while he eats' had a dozen recommended oysters and didn't offer one, which wasn't nice I thought – and then grinned and pronounced he would have some more with his main course they were so good. It's a really cosy, bustling, friendly place – everyone welcome, just don't be late!
    Loved it.
