Touted as an Oyster & Porter House, this pint-sized venue naturally gives equal billing to slurping and boozing. It gets rammed, but customers occupying the stools and high tables in the main room can peer into the galley kitchen, where chefs set about shucking bivalves from the Wright Brothers’ oyster farm on the Helford River – as well as sizzling up line-caught fish courtesy of the Cornish day boats. Nibble on potted shrimps and toast, get stuck into a plate of dressed crab and round off with Neal’s Yard cheeses – all washed down with a pint of the black stuff or something suitable from the mostly French list. Despite the rather cluttered feel, Wright Brothers is tailor-made for young South Bank professionals with a ‘true love of oysters and Champagne’.
