Tales of half-empty Friday nights & inflated prices are presumably related at this upmarket & subtly furnished Indian restaurant close to Paddington station. The food is ambitious, with a mix of traditional dishes & those with a more European influence, so you’re as likely to encounter lamb rogan josh as Scottish venison in tamarind sauce. There are even one or two purely Western dishes, such as Devon lamb shank braised in red wine & cherry tomato gravy. Expect to pay for such innovations, however, with main courses averaging around £20 – & not everyone thinking it’s money well spent, with one reader dubbing his experience ‘a dismal disappointment’. There’s nothing disappointing about the wine list, though, which features a wide (if expensive) range of Old & New World options that stretches to some super-expensive clarets.
