The Diner

Red leatherette banquettes with white piping & French’s American mustard on the table set the scene for a likeable interpretation of an American diner hailing from a more innocent era – think Doris Day rather than Dick Cheney. That means eggs with French toast or blueberry pancakes for breakfast & burgers to which you can add crispy bacon, Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese, mushrooms or guacamole to taste, plus tacos & chilli for more fiery palates. Though there’s a rather production-line feel to the cooking, it’s cheap & filling nosh nonetheless. Beers include Banana Bread Beer, Brooklyn & Lone Star; alternatively, practise your Sandra Dee impression over a shake.
