You’d never guess that the imposing frontage of 12 Great George Street concealed a bustling modern brasserie – & few know that the official canteen of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is even open to the public. Which, of course, is all great news to those who do. The location, just around the corner from Big Ben, couldn’t be handier & the oft-changing menu offers fresh, vibrant flavours, perfect for a healthy business lunch. A summer meal might kick off with mackerel salad ahead of pork with baby spinach, polenta gnocchi & mustard sauce, with citrus fruit jelly to finish, while autumn specials could extend to braised venison with button onions, mushrooms & bacon with runner beans & pumpkin croquettes on the side. At £15.45/£19.95 for two/three courses, it’s good value, too.
