Pitched on the north side of Sloane Square, this big-city brasserie has the trademark mix of parquet floors, placemat menus, questionable artwork & bulbous green lights down to a T. However, the menu quickly skips over the French border to take in more generic European dishes with a seasonal bent: summer starters range from gazpacho andaluz with chorizo & peppers to ham-hock & rabbit terrine with Indian military pickle; mains could include a risotto of Scottish girolles, while rich crème caramel or chocolate pot with hazelnut doughnuts should fit for dessert. Friendly waistcoated waiters with French accents do a good job out front, the wine list scrubs up nicely, & the outfit knows its customers’ proclivities: hurried businessmen drop in for the ‘express lunch’, while health-conscious Chelsea-ites super-size their salad orders.
