The Horseshoe

This relative newcomer has been welcomed with open arms by Hampstead residents, who aren’t overwhelmed by decent casual eateries. The weathered-wood pub includes two small, light-filled dining rooms towards the back & although the same menu is served throughout, you face a long wait for food at busy times if you’re sitting in the bar area. The menu touts rustic British dishes, tersely described: cured salmon, mustard toast, capers, say, followed by twice-cooked Blythburgh pork belly, Puy lentils, mustard, thyme. It’s wholesome, pared-down stuff, best washed down with one of three real ales on tap, made in the microbrewery downstairs.
