Square Meal Review of The Counting House ?

The Grade II-listed Victorian premises that were once home to Prescott’s Bank have been transformed into a splendid pub, complete with an imposing dark-wood island bar beneath a soaring glass dome. The Counting House is predictably animated from lunchtime until late during the week as City boys pile in for pints of Fuller’s ESB or Seafarers, as well as bottles of Sol, Peroni or Bitburger; there’s also some decent stuff on the chalked-up board of wines. Those with hearty appetites as well as thirsts should be well satisfied by a pie-dominated menu with fillings ranging from traditional steak & ale to Stilton, mushroom & red pepper; otherwise, there are quick-fix sandwiches, plus nibbles of nachos & potato skins.
