There’s a golden-age speakeasy feel to this bijou bar – think Rat Pack, Hemingway & The Ritz. For privacy, bag one of the cosy back tables, otherwise hang out near the bar to see & be seen. The cocktail menu reads like an all-time hits list, but with lots of newer material added on. Helpful sections, including ‘whisky-based’ & ‘summer drinks’, are further divided into ‘traditional’ & ‘inspired’ – anything from dark & stormy (a centuries-old Bermudan favourite) to the long white cloud (a mix of Feijoa vodka, coriander, elderflower, pears & apples). There are also reams of fascinating boozy history to read if boredom sets in. Food has been tailored to suit the serious cocktail enthusiast, so nibble on mini burgers, zucchini fritte or crab & lobster cakes.
